We were recently asked to inspect work carried out by another roofing contractor. From ground level, it looked finished. Once we got up close and inspected it properly, the reality was very different.

What We Found
Rotten Timber Hidden Beneath The New Fascia
The original wooden fascia was extensively rotten and structurally unsound. Instead of removing it, new PVC had been fitted directly over the top, leaving it without a proper, secure fixing point.

Another Defect
Poorly Installed Fascia Over Deteriorated Timber
The original timber should have been stripped out completely before the replacement fascia was installed. Covering rotten timber doesn't fix the problem. It only hides it.
